I am an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant with 15 years and over 1,500 hours of clinical experience helping mothers achieve their nursing goals. My goal is to help families achieve their own unique infant feeding goals.

Having breastfed two little girls I know that breastfeeding is not easy! Both my children had tongue ties, I endured countless blocked ducts and FIVE bouts of mastitis. I also had periods of doubting my body and milk supply. Despite all this I remember that nursing my children felt joyful! It is my desire that families look back at their first year with this joy. Despite lactation challenges it is my desire to help you find a plan that works for your unique situation and helps you reach your feeding goals.

In 2000 I graduated from Queens University with a BCOMM and worked for four years in the strategy consulting and banking world.  After leaving the corporate world I received my Yoga Teacher Training Certificate in Cape Town, South Africa and my Classical Pilates Certification in Hong Kong.  I continue to teach yoga and pilates in both group and private settings.

In 2007, I graduated from the Ontario College of Homeopathic Medicine with a Professional Diploma in Health Sciences and Homeopathic Medicine.  I practiced as a Homeopathic Practitioner with a special interest in pregnancy, pediatrics and women’s conditions.

In 2011, I graduated from the International Breastfeeding Centre/ Newman Breastfeeding Clinic’s Lactation Medicine Program where I had studied for 2 years and then worked as an intern directly under Dr. Jack Newman and Edith Kernerman. In 2014 I became an Internationally Certified Board Lactation Consultant (I.B.C.L.C).

In 2018 I attended the IBCLC Masterclass training in New York to hone my skills on the oral habilitation of the breastfeeding dyad. I have taken the Infant Mental Health Course created by the Hospital for Sick Children. I have countless hours of additional training in lactation management and tongue tie. I have also taken trainings in Rhythmic Movement and Infant Reflexes and integrate this further learning into my consultations.

I teach Prenatal Breastfeeding Classes through Oona and a "Breastfeeding Essential for Doulas and Health Care Practitioners" at Yoga Mamas. I have also educated high level executives with a desire to understand more about breastfeeding for use in their product development.

Why should it matter that I am an Internationally Certified Board Lactation Consultant?

An International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (I.B.C.L.C) has passed a fully accredited, rigorous 4-hour examination set by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE). Prerequisites for the board examination include thousands of hours of clinical work and dozens of educational credits in Anatomy & Physiology, Cultural Diversity, Psychology & Counseling, Child Development, Nutrition, among others. The IBLCE certification is recognized as the Gold Standard for health professionals working with breastfeeding women, and all I.B.C.L.C.s are required to adhere to IBLCE’s Professional Standards.
